"The nature of astrology is to be archetypally predictive, not concretely predictive."

New Moon in Cancer

July 14, 2007

New Moons are times of planting new seeds, new beginnings and setting intentions. The New Moon in Cancer is the best time to work on your home and family life. This is the time to grow a garden filled with nurturance and care for our loved ones. Chiron (wounded healer) retrograde in Aquarius in this New Moon suggests wounding from emotional disconnectedness from others ? Keep in mind that even though Cancer and Aquarius are antithetical toward each other, they nonetheless share some commonalities in that both signs are related to family! Cancer is the personal family and Aquarius is our collective family (friends, groups etc). In the words of Richard Bach "Rarely do members of one's true family share the same roof."

Jupiter retrograde in Sagittarius "reveals painful truths." This is the time to address issues with our insecurities and co-dependencies in order to break free from old emotional attachments.

Jupiter sometimes requires that we be ruthless with the truth and the truth shall set you free. Jupiter is exalted in Cancer and some common links between both Cancer and Sagittarius is their restlessness. The Crab has a harder time finding emotional contentment in the outer world. Sagittarius is nurtured through adventure and exploration. Both signs yearn for the spiritual (Sag) family (Cancer).

This is one of the best New Moons to heal ourselves through emotional release work. Since Cancer is the archetypal Mother, many Cancers never know when to cut the cord and stop trying to nuture, support and take care of others. It is important that Cancers learn to nurture themselves with compassion and care. Studies have shown that many of those in the helping, healing or caretaker professions often suffer from Lunar (Moon) burnout, emotional burnout because of always attending to the needs of others and forgetting to attend to their own internal needs for emotional nurturance. This is the time to take accountability for our emotional condition without all the drama with Venus in Leo! Learn to build your nest of security through relationships that nurture and feed your soul.

The Sabian Symbol for this New Moon reads: "A young woman awaiting a sailboat" Keynote: The longing for transcendent happiness in the soul opened to great dreams. The Beloved may come through the silence of the inner sea of consciousness. This New Moon is an excellent time to cultivate and enhance your self-sufficiency and not allow others to become overly dependent upon you. Establish an inner refuge within yourself, and do not allow yourself to cling to the past. Cancer is the archetypal feminine principle. Honor the wisdom of the sacred feminine through love, compassion, caring and understanding. The current challenge symbolized by the Cancerian/Aquarian energies is through compassionate detachment. Cancer has a most difficult time detaching from anything it has claws into. Finally, Cancer the archetypal feminine energy, the call for more herstory and less history is imperative if this Planet (Mother Earth) is going to survive ? In the words of Delaware Indian Chief Rubin Snake. "If we don't change our direction, we're going to end up where we're headed!"
Peace to you ~
